Valley Of Butterflies

(Approximately 3 1/2 hours)

The valley is located on the western part of the island, a few kilometres away from the coast.

It is worldwide known for the presence of specie panaxia puandripunctaria, which can be “studied” here from the middle of June until the middle of September approximately. This butterfly, which in fact is a type of a moath, only exists in very few parts of the world and the special fact here is that the butterflies come to the valley every year only per instinct, attracted by the special climate conditions of the place.

Visiting the valley gives you the opportunity to spend some time exploring the local nature. On our way we will pas by some of the villages of the island, drive through olive yards and get close both to the coast and to the mountains of the island of Rhodes.

The excursion to the valley is also a kids friendly tour but keep in mind that good walking capability is a condition to get the best out of the tour.

*The valley of the butterflies can easily be combined with a visit at the Filerimos mountain or the archaeological site of ancient Kamiros.
*This excursion requires vehicle.
*Entrance fee 5 Euros, children under 10 years old free
